During the process of using/testing new tools, there will be evaluations of specific advantages/disadvantages. This note is for these evaluations.
Evaluations come with timestamps and versions, and may no longer be accurate in the future.
- Alt + tab for macOS: Choose HyperSwitch instead of Alt-Tab. Although Alt-Tab is frequently recommended, it caused my computer to freeze during testing, requiring me to force-close the application. Note that Alt-Tab does receive more frequent updates than HyperSwitch.
- Beekeeper Studio:
- A significant disadvantage is that there's no auto-completion in the query editor!
- Free → Cannot open sidebar details of a row.
- Database Client (VSCode extension):
- A significant disadvantage is that it cannot open multiple tables/views simultaneously.
- Free → Only allows connections to a maximum of 3 databases!
- Diary apps → Note: A best journal app.
- Google Photos (Storage Saver mode) → With high-quality photos/videos, it's difficult to see much difference in normal viewing mode on phones, but with low-quality videos, the reduction in quality is clearly noticeable.
- M1, M2 chip Macbooks: cannot use more than 1 external monitor. Can only support 2 monitors from the M3 chip onwards. For M1, M2 chips, if you want to use 2 external monitors, you should use adapters that support DisplayLink (typically costing twice as much as those without support) + download and install the DisplayLink Driver app.
- Dental floss: Oral-B Glide is softer, flatter, and doesn't cause pain like other round floss types. Suitable for sensitive teeth and gums.
